An Athletic Therapist is a sports medicine professional specializing in the prevention, immediate care, and on-going rehabilitation of sports or physical activity-related muscle, bone, or joint injuries. Athletic Therapists treat professional athletes to weekend warriors and everything in between. If you suffer from any sport or physical activity-related injuries, you need to see an Athletic Therapist for comprehensive assessment and treatment.
Don't let an injury stop you from doing the things you love.
How will an Athletic Therapist help me?
Our Athletic Therapist works collaboratively with our physiotherapy and coaching team to facilitate your safe return to sport, work, or school. Our therapist will work with you to develop an individualized, rehabilitation program, which can include:
Rehabilitation of physical injuries (new & old)
Recovery from surgeries
Prenatal & Postpartum strength and recovery
Assessment of lifting techniques
Return to play and active lifestyle
Urgent/Acute injury care
Return to activity & your life confident and prepared.
Hypopressives are a series of postures and breathing techniques combined into a flowing routine. This form of exercise reduces pressure to the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic cavities which can alleviate symptoms such as urinary leaking/incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, hernias and back pain.
Our therapists will not only address your current symptoms, but they will also address your overall strength & function. Whether you play sports, workout or simply want peace of mind in daily life - athletic therapy can provide it!
You may currently avoid certain movements, or activities you love. With the help of your athletic therapist you can rebuild your confidence and start doing the things that fill your cup again without constant worry or fear of re-injury or pain.
There is nothing better than being able to advocate for your body. We love educating and giving you space to do what feels best in you body. You are perfect, you are loved, you are empowered.
Our therapists and community are here to support, guide and never pass judgement. We create a safe space for you to be authentically you and get the help you need and deserve.
Carrie has been working as a Certified Athletic Therapist & personal trainer for over 12 years. She spent her youth in the pool as a competitive swimmer, and now as an adult has discovered a love for ball hockey, running in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids, whether that's family movie nights, walks or camping adventures. The combination of both her personal athletic endeavours, and experience working with athletes and clients in the fitness industry inspires her to help her clients achieve their goals and help them live an active and healthy lifestyle.
Working in a private clinical setting since 2015, Carrie takes an active approach to clients rehab, viewing exercise as medicine. With the addition of functional movement screens, soft tissue release and manual therapy skills, she is able to help clients through all stages of injuries and fitness training. She loves working with women and female athletes at all walks of life, and is especially passionate about working with prenatal and postpartum clients.
Carrie is also a level 2 hypopressives instructor and loves teaching and integrating hypopressives into client programs to help improve pain and performance.
